8 Gen Z Trends That are Sweeping the IG Social Sphere

If you are looking for ways to leverage your social strategy on IG this year, here are some thoughts to keep in mind when strategizing content for the Gen Z audience:


1. Gen Z is leaning towards more pocket-friendly purchasing activities. What might this mean? DIY is in, baby! Anything that can help consumers save money is on the rise. With all the inflation around us, makes sense, right?!


2. Gen Z is putting a lot of money toward causes and communities showing they would rather try to help somebody than buy expensive things. Activism is very high as well, especially for political issues and advocacy for disabilities.


3. Gen Z is all about self-expression, but in the coming year, they will be looking to buy products with more protective features in expectation of climate change effects. Think, SPF for starters.


4. Virtual Reality will take a much deeper root in gen Z media and influencer reach with new and more diverse avatars that can better reflect diversity and body types.


5. The Financial Renaissance is upon us, Social media is not just for full-time creators anymore. 64% of Gen Z intend to make money using social media. Over 85% of Gen Z want to learn a new skill this year and 1 in 4 want to learn more about finance. Expect interests to transform into side hustles.


6. 68% of Gen Z would like to try the food of a different culture after seeing it online.

In-person experiences are still very valuable with at least 1/3 of Gen Z looking forward to meeting creators in person. Over 40% of Gen Z want to hear podcasts from their favorite creators.


7. Dating in the DMs. IG is a primary spot to send a message to someone.
